Los generadores de onda se mueven hacia arriba y hacia abajo en movimientos controlados para producir simult\u00e1neamente un n\u00famero de ondas cil\u00edndricas que act\u00faen como pixeles. Los pixeles, que miden 10 cent\u00edmetros de di\u00e1metro y 4 cent\u00edmetros en altura, se combinan para formar l\u00edneas y formas. La AMOEBA es capaz de escribir el alfabeto romano entero, as\u00ed como algunos caracteres simples del kanji. Cada letra o cuadro queda escrita en la superficie del agua solamente por un momento, pero pueden ser producidos en sucesi\u00f3n en la superficie del agua cada 3 segundos.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores en los laboratorios de Akishima han desarrollado dispositivos similares en el pasado con ondas usadas para dibujar cuadros en la superficie del agua, pero esos dispositivos ten\u00edan dificultad escribiendo letras con las l\u00edneas rectas (tales como la letra K). Adem\u00e1s, tom\u00f3 a dispositivos anteriores hasta 15 minutos de tiempo de la entrada de datos para escribir cada letra.<\/p>\n<p>Las aplicaciones desarrolladas recientemente en la tecnolog\u00eda mejoraron los m\u00e9todos del c\u00e1lculo para controlar los generadores de la onda, confiando en las f\u00f3rmulas conocidos como <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bessel_function\">funciones de Bessel<\/a>.
